Okay, so the title may remind some of you of a John Candy movie about the first Jamaican bobsled team. For me, it was today’s run.
Last week was beautiful, Monday’s run was in temperatures of 68 F. It was also a great run because I had myself a rabbit, my oldest daughter went with me. The downside, once the warm-up was over she out paced me, kept a 50 yard lead and never looked like the run bothered her. Her comment the next day, “My legs are a little sore.” Wednesday’s run was postponed because I rolled my ankle on Tuesday at work and decided I needed a few days to get it back. Staying ahead of serious injury is going to be a long term benefit. So we come to Friday’s run and the temperature has dropped 20 degrees from Monday. This made running nice, not too hot. No rabbit this time but I did beat my Monday time by 30 seconds.
Now the bad news, here in Maple Grove we received 8 inches of snow Saturday. This dropped the temperature again. Today’s run was in 35 degree temperature with snow to line the paths. It’s nice to know the city I live in sends snow plows not only along the streets but along the bike/run paths that run (no pun intended) through our neighbourhoods. These paths make it safe for running in bad weather and in the dark. Staying paranoid is still a good idea. the paths keep the paranoia to intersections.
Thanks to my trainer for the warm-up and cool down vids.
