This was my first trail race and I really enjoyed it. Nothing like hitting the trails and running in some beautiful surroundings.

There was a mass start for all of the trail races (5k, 10k, 3hr and 6hr), and with a loop of just 2.5k, you end up seeing several people over and over again, which was actually quite cool. I only had to do the loop twice, but I’m a “loop” kind of guy, often opting for out-and-back routes for my training runs, so I don’t succumb to monotony easily.

With one large hill on the trail and a bit of wetness I can see slipping on the mud and leaves to be a potential injury risk, especially when it’s mid-marathon season, but I didn’t have any problems and thoroughly enjoyed myself. This is another small race that’s well done and should have more people. Check out the video below to see some of the great scenery and get a sense of the event.
