Off to the Races!

Welcome to RunByDesign!

After several months of thinking about whether or not to push forward on putting a blog together I’ve finally bitten the bullet. While I’m not nearly a pro athlete, hold no coaching certification, and have no nutrition sense other than, “stay away from McDonald’s,” I do know one thing: I’m passionate about running. I love to read about it, think about it, do it and now, write about it. While to some outside this may seem obsessive, I can assure you it’s not.

Or maybe it is.

Isn’t anything you love somewhat of an obsession? Although I could live without it, I wouldn’t want to. Though sometimes it’s hard, I still enjoy every minute. When I’m not able to go, I miss it. But in the end, there are much more important things in life: family, friends, faith, health (I couldn’t have them all begin with “f”…).

So why write start a blog? While there are many sources of information out there, it’s always good to hear another voice, listen to other stories, and have a chance to contribute. RunByDesign is around to help you learn more about you. While we’d all like to be Scott Jurek, we’re not. We’re ordinary people, often trying to reach less than ordinary goals. We have families, businesses, jobs, and running is just a part of that life. So this blog is for the “everyman”: for anyone who wants to go a little further, get a little faster, and learning to do it with like minded people by simply learning how to maximize your own potential.

I’m hoping that there will be others that will post (I have a few people in mind already), and that the info will be helpful to some.

Enjoy! We’re off to the races!

  1. Interesting post. Good read. I think the best part of the post is the emphasis placed on how you are targeting the “normal” recreational runner. Sometimes, the best tips come from our peers. I feel an RSS coming on.. 🙂
